From the characteristic narrow streets of the historic center, dotted with small jewels of the Apulian Baroque, the visitor will be led into the heart of the Earth to discover the most famous karst complex in the world. The caves of Castellana are the result of the patient work of an ancient underground river that lasted 90 million years. Made of limestone, trulli are examples<br \/>extraordinary building techniques in dry stone slabs: a technique dating back to prehistoric times. Although the rural trulli are scattered throughout the Valle d&#039;Itria, the maximum concentration of specimens is found right here in Alberobello, with more than 1500 structures.
